O...M...G! Help...this is so annoying. (cd unit)
The previous owner installed/had installed an aftermarket Pioneer CD Player. I purchaced a DUAL CD unit that has an iPlug and it plays CD/MP3/MPEG/CD-RW ect.
However, I REFUSE to pay however much reduculous amount of money to have some dude replace my stereo because I already know how to do it.
I used to drive a Mitsubishi Eclipse and I changed the stereo in that just fine. No problems ever.
But this civic?...OMG!!
How the hell do I get to the freakin cdplayer???
I've taken out pretty much every screw I can see! The seats and carpet (for wiring) are removed, the guages...removed, steering wheel...out, glove box, center unit...all of it I took out...but I cannot get to the CD Player! The dash board is like...3 layers and NONE of them will budge! I've looked undernieth and behind. Everywhere. There are no clips or other screws I've missed...It's just...stuck there!
It's a 1995 Honda Civic Coupe DX
any help would be nice...like a dash layout for my model or someone else that's done this for this...I tried to fond one online...but I couldn't. Again, All I need to do is get to the damn thing. All the wiring I've done. I did it in my old car.
And while I'm on the subject of difficulty removing things...I ALSO cannot remove the door panels. I have manual windows and I can't get the crank off! All the screws are out and the panel pops off, but I can't find the little u-shaped deal that clips the crank on. I need to take my door panels off to replace my stock speakers with my new ones I baught.

How do I get the manual window crank out?

I tried that, and it doesn't help. Yeah, if I tear that little piece out from under the dash, I can see the CD Unit...but I can't take it out. There's something holding it there that I can't find. That's what I'm wondering...how do I get the CD Player OUT I can put mine IN? If you know how then tell me...telling me to pop off piece of plastic doesn't help...I need to know what's holding the thing in place. And I know that it sure as hell aint the cigarette lighter and ash tray.

If you would have read my post correctly...I stated that I drive a 1995 Honda Civic DX...NOT A 2001-05; which this document is for.
Does NO ONE have a simple answer as to how to get my dash apart for my new CD Player? I seriously shouldnt be THIS hard...
Re: O...M...G! Help...this is so annoying. (cd unit)
ok...I apolagize for the previous reply it was a bit full of attitude...but I am just very irritated.
I posted this thread 2 weeks ago and I still havn't got my answer for a simple question.
I asked around for some information, but corperations just charge me about $50 for installation with my new stereo.
I refuse to do that...because I know how to install mine...
I just don't know how to get the old one out.
The stereo in there is an aftermarket Pioneer player so I don't have to deal with any OEM parts.
Just wlil someone PLEASE give me a discription...a diagram, a picture...ANYTHING on how to get the stereo out! ANYTHING will help!

Maybe somehow the guy who installed it was smart and he has some kind of hidden screws in back to keep the unit from being jacked? That's all I can think of. My friend did that with his deck and in-dash to prevent a thief with a flathead screwdriver from being able to quickly take the things out.

Yeah your 95 should just be like my 93 and all i did was take out all screws and the stock head unit pretty much just fell out lol.
I didn't even like take the dash apart just the whole center area and it was a snap. I have a feeling like the guy above that when the old owner added that radio he added something to make taking the radio out hard, thus the problem you are having.
I feel your pain about the installer as i did my whole music setup myself and did not pay but you might be in a situation where you may need to pay to have someone really get in there.
I have not had this car for a long time and have not ripped the dash apart to really give any other guidance other than i think you did do it right and i have a feeling that someone added something and that is what is making your life difficult.
Wish i could be better help
