Angry My car is shaking & i don't know why !!!

Hi experts ,

I have a mysterious issue in my Honda Civic 2000 LX , the car start shaking from about 2 months ago and the muffler smoke is choppy then the check engine light popped up with a code P0420 so i changed the catalytic converter and the spark plugs and the wires of the plugs and the distributor cap and the whole throttle body with the IACV sensor because the RPM always low however none of these solutions worked , i fed up and i am thinking to sell this car , so if any body know what's going on here kindly help me

Thanks

Re: My car is shaking & i don't know why !!!

If the shacking is because of the engine then you know it is because the engine is not running properly (obviously).

The engine needs
-air
-spark
-fuel
-ecu sensor data

The cat. going on you could be due to running rich.

-Have you changes the timing/timing belt recently?
-Have you performed any maintenance/modification or other services lately (last 6 months)?

Re: My car is shaking & i don't know why !!!

Yes.

If the timing is just a bit off it will run but the air intake, exhaust output, fuel burn will all be out of sync. with your piston position during the detonation cycle.

Check your timing or re time it.

Re: My car is shaking & i don't know why !!!

the mechanic told me that the engine is loosing compression and he has to change the whole pistons if i need to fix it and this gonna cost about 1000 $ & for sure this is too much for an old car like this but i was searching online for a solution i found some liquid called engine restorer in a silver can and many people posts some videos talking about this product and how amazing is that , but i am always don't believe that any liquid can fix a physical issue like low compression or leak or whatever , so what do you think ??

Ya know, if the timing belt wasn't set up exactly perfect, compression will be lower than normal......

No need to replace an engine if that's the actual cause, it can be corrected fairly easily.

Re: My car is shaking & i don't know why !!!

the mechanic told me that the engine is loosing compression
So after a compression test reveals problems, the next test is cylinder leakage test (leakdown test) to quantify the amount of leakage and to locate the cause of leakage.

What were the results of that test? Where is the compression loss going?
Valves?

Save your money.

First verify that the timing IS correct!

This guy could be taking you for a ride.

Go to another shop and have the timing checked.

If the timing is perfect and the new shop wants to work on internals then use the shop with the lessor price.

Did OP bend some valves during DIY timing belt job?

Lol, perhaps. That seems far more plausible than low compression causing engine vibration. But OP stated that the mechanic wanted to replace pistons/rings.

Bent valves cause low compression....DIY timing belt oops?
