Rep Power: 0 B18B1 Swap In EJ8
So I have a question. Couple years back I had a b16a2 swap in my 1998 Honda Civic 2 Door "Si" model. Original Motor was a D16Y8 but later on both motors were toast.
This year I had a friend pass on his integra which was totalled in the rear and I took his motor which was a b18b1 obd2 manual. car starts up with no issues but I received a couple of codes. so after many nights of repairs I have beaten all the codes except one..
Code P1259: Vtec System Malfunction
Now because the b18b1 is a non vtec motor I have removed my obd1 Chipped ECU p28 and installed a OBD2 civic ECU and I have removed the vtec harness completely since it was a add on splicing into the ECU wires. no matter how many times I erase this code it keeps popping up. I've been driving around with my temp since.
Is there anyway to disable the code for good ? Or at least by pass it? Should I get the ECU flashed and do some remapping work? I heard about the oil being apart of this, I know it's not plugged in and that's why the code is there.
Some one help

b16a2 = 160hp
b18a1 = 142hp
...I hope you aren't planing to swap the b18 non-vtec for the b16 vtec.
In fact swapping this motor into anything seems odd for all the time/money/pain in the ***, why not find a b18c1 (170hp) or b18c5 (195hp)?
...or wait to swap the engine and while it's out find a c1 or c5 head and ecu.

Re: B18B1 Swap In EJ8
thats really odd being that all non vtec ecu has all the vtec component/chips removed from the circuit board. but then again some non vtec ecu can be converted to a vtec ecu. if all else fails you can always have the vtec disabled.
