Transmission replacement

Hey everyone, I'm new here and I I just wanted to ask you guys for your input on replacing a 1997 civic coupe automatic transmission. Is it a difficult job to do? My little brothers tranny just went out so trying to help him save some $$. I have a jeep and do all the work on it so I've never worked on an import car before. Any videos anyone can post? Thanks

Re: Transmission replacement

if you have replaced a tranny in a jeep you can in a civic, different lay out but same principle, drop the tranny mounts and rear cab mount, (support engine) unbolt the starter and remove sensors on the tranny, remove all the bolts on the bell housing and pop of tranny (may need to be pried) I just did a tranny in my Colorado z71 4x4 on the weekend and the weekend before replaced the tranny in my civic and I must say I hated doing the truck, civic was way easier. And the trannys are easier to work with as they are lighter. only thing to remember to have the Torque converter set up properly or the new tranny will not line up correctly when putting it back on.
