Front Disc Brakes
I am just wondering where everyone here buys there rotors and pads? Which brands have you found work great?
I am also looking at picking up new red calipers for my car; are calipers generic, or will I need to buy a certain set?

Re: Front Disc Brakes
Some calipers I've found have stated they only work on LX's with automatic transmissions.. is there really a difference between calipers on the cars with manual and automatic transmissions?
I have ABS on my car, so will there be a certain caliper I need for that?
Would I be better off just painting my calipers red? lol

Re: Front Disc Brakes
I bet this is a lot cheaper than buying calipers:

True. I'll be picking up one of those kits soon.. We had about 4 days of nice weather here, I cleaned/waxed my car, and the next day it got all snowy/ rainy/ windy.. It's too cold now to do any work on the car lol

Re: Front Disc Brakes
Must be nice! it was only +2 Celcius here yesterday! :P
Quick Question: Do I need to get special brake pads that work with ABS, or can I just get any pads made for a 1996 Civic LX? I am more than likely going to get Hawk HPS pads.
I have also decided on getting ATE Premium One Rotors

Re: Front Disc Brakes
Go with Brembo blank rotors (stock replacement size, but better quality). They don't warp and aren't that expensive.
Hawk HPS pads are known to be loud and squeal. Look into Stoptech Street Performance. They are a nice grippy street pad. Combined with new rotors, your braking performance will get a nice increase.

Re: Front Disc Brakes
Brembo is good for rotors. (Great quality, im gonna buy) but I would go with something that isn't cheap Chinese crap.

Quote, " I don't want to burst your bubble but the 'REAL' Brembo rotors you referring to are fake. Brembo does not sell cross drilled AND slotted rotors - people often are fooled by companies that purchase Brembo plain OE replacement discs and have them altered by a third party
Going back to your post the disc you referring to in your post as a real is in fact real Brembo rotor (for Lexus) but it's regular blank disc but altered by third party. http://bremboaftermarket.com/En/Car_...hCode=09793110 "
My link says 2011. He stated Brembo does not sell drilled AND slotted rotors.
Hell, Google is full of this stuff.

Re: Front Disc Brakes
I just did a quick google search and linked something I thought was useful at a quick glance. I really should be studying for the two finals I have tomorrow, so I apologize if my link was bad.
Also, I should have known better about brembos selling drilled/slotted rotors. Meh.
Basics to look for: proper stamp on the rotor's edge instead of a ghetto *** engraving. Vents within the rotor have a clean, machined appearance.. something like that. That's all off the top of my head.

Re: Front Disc Brakes
Thanks for the input, I'm going to head to Napa tomorrow to pick up some Brembo blanks, some pads, and that caliper paint. I'm also going to get one in black to do the drums on the back.
