vtec or not?
vtec or not?
Hey I'm new to civics! Can someone tell me if my 97 automatic civic ex sedan is vtec or not. I heard some where that the d16y8 engine is vtec but my valve cover just says HONDA. Please help!

Re: vtec or not?

#10 is the VTEC spool valve assembly.
If this is attached to your cylinder head, then it is a VTEC engine.
If not, well...then it isn't.

Re: vtec or not?
^ beleive there is only one V-tech solenoid but as that question was answered..
You can always get headers, exhaust, pulleys, turbo and a ton of other things to make your Civic faster however it all cost a lot of money and shortens the life of your engine, and cost more to maintain.(tuning and all that jazz).
for the amount it would cost to make it fast is not worth it to me but some it is...
