Should I buy?
Re: Should I buy?
I work at an Acura Dealership and just got my '00 Si with 100k miles, super clean inside and out. I payed $2,700 for it, but that is because I work there. Also, you have about a 2-2.5k window where you can try and negotiate a price, but it really depends on how much the dealer has into it. I believe the KBB value of the car, from a dealer's standpoint, is anywhere from 5-7k. Start at 4k, and I bet you guys will settle around 5.

I was about to post before readingnewman210's post. What I was gonna say was try and talk them down to $4000-4500, with the assumption you'd eventually settle at 5000-ish.
I wonder if you can get a good deal if you go there with cash in hand and see if you can buy it right out. Like, bring 4250 or 4500 cash and say you'll pay that right there and then for the car.. lol. Does that kinda **** actually work?

^ yes that is how I bought my CRX a while back.. showed up with 1200 bucks and said cash out the door...and it worked. they wanted 2000...
If they say NO to you when you try to get it for less than 5k say ok and leave... odds are they will call you back within a day.. most places that have cars like that need your business more than you need them..

Re: Should I buy?
car looks nice, i would say it depends how bad you want it, Yes it would work with a preapproved loan..its basically same as cash..(what i used to get my 07). Try to talk them down and pay what you are willing to pay.. if its 5k then pay 5k.. whatever makes you happy, take a good look at the motor to, and test drive it of course these cars are commonly beat on..
Looking at a 1999 Civic EX for my soon to be 16 year old daughter. 199,000 miles. 3 owners. The last owner has had the car for 6 years, kept every service receipt, and had the oil changed every 3,000 miles. Timining belt was changed at 130,000 miles. AC needs a new condenser fan/motor, very minor cosmetic issues. 5 speed. A little wet around the valve covers but I think it's just the gasket. Drives & stops good. The engine idles nice. The seller is asking $3900. Edmunds puts it at $1450 and KBB between $2000 & $2500. Do you think its worth $2000?
