Swapping the HX or not?

Hello everyone. So lately I've been thinking if I should swap my civic or not... But I'm getting a lot of second thoughts about will the engine I get fit or not what I need to get an all of those stuff.
So I have a Civic HX 99, First question, is it worth doing an swap on it?
if so, What engines fit pretty easy on the HX?
Besides the engine mounts and tranny for that Model engine what else should be worried about?
I'm not going to do the swap myself, but I have a mechanic that he is a friend of mine.

Re: Swapping the HX or not?

Given the unique nature of the HX, chances are you'd need to swap out the computer as well. Most likely, if you're not seeking fuel economy, but performance instead, you'd be better off with a different car. I know Civics can be modified like there's no tomorrow with an almost endless supply of aftermarket parts, but swapping the stock HX engine with a stock engine of another model Civic will likely offer little improvement in performance. You'd have to dump a couple grand or more into a higher flowing intake, higher flowing exhaust, lighter engine parts, such as flywheel, crank, etc., turbo or Nitrous (assuming you built the engine to handle it). And then to get the most from the modificatins, you'd likely need a new programmable computer as the engine wouldn't run as desired off the factory settings, which were for fuel economy, not performance.

Still, I'm new to Civics, or Honda's in general and in truth know little on modifying cars for performance, so my input is likely off and of little help. I'm sure other members can come in here and tell you exactly what engine you'd want to drop in it and what modifications to do to get the most from it, but turning a 100HP Civic motor into, for example, a 400HP Civic motor isn't likely to be cheap or easy. I'm sure there's some simple bolt-on mods to give you a couple extra HP here and there, but nothing that'd really make much difference. I've seen Civics that've had 5K dumped in them to get (Allegedly) 600HP.

Re: Swapping the HX or not?

Sorry for really late respond to my post... been busy lately...
But idk I wouldn't want that much power out of my civic because i wont be going to track or racing it. I also decided that IF i do the swap i'll do it after im done with the looks.
But i'm still concerned about putting money into this car for looks or not. Just lower it and put some nice rims on it.
