Just bought 96 Civic DX -Want to do ATF fluid change

I have searched, but alot of results are years old.

Just bought a 96 civic DX with an AT. I want to change AT fluid, I read about about ATF Z1, but i also saw posts about it being discontinued.

Is there an alternative to this? Or should I goto the dealer to buy some?

Re: Just bought 96 Civic DX -Want to do ATF fluid change

Our new ATF is DW-1, it replaced Z-1 a couple of years ago.
It is supposed to be completely compatible.

Yours may be fine with regular Dexron 2/3/6 too. The Dexron 6 is synthetic and replaces all previous versions.

A quote pulled from your owners manual:
UseHonda Premium Formula AutomaticTransmission Fluid or an
equivalent DEXRONŽ II AutomaticTransmission Fluid (ATF)

Someone else here loves Valvoline Maxlife ATF.
