Rattle noise And P0172 code

So my car makes a rattling noise when in park,i look under my car and it looks and sounds like the muffler specifically from this place where its connected at.And theres also a little bit of smoke coming out the muffler. Not too much but slightly noticeable.also i keep getting the fuel too rich bank 1 code, and i was wondering what i have to do to fix it?my car did overheat the other day due to a coolant leak but i was driving it no more then 4 miles while it was hot and i put water in before and half way home..and as soon as i got home fixed it and filled it up with antifreeze..nomore overheating but rattling and smoke yes lol..If anyone can help me id really appreciate it.Thanks b4 i

my guess would be the rattle is a cooked and broken up cat, that would also explain the rich code, cause your cat is not doin its job.possible the coolant leak was a head gasket leak? cause misfire? over heated cat and melted?...bang on the cat with a rubber mallet and see if it rattles? go from there. cheers.

What do you mean by the cat?I'm thinking catalyctic converter?? And is that bad do I need to fix it asap or can I run my car like that?

yes i mean the catalitic, and its not good to run it if its broken up.if there is a coolant leak you should fix that aswell,or the new cat could end up the same, see raw fuel will gather in the cat if its not being burned in the engine, then it will burn in the cat and over heat it and melt it. so make sure you fix both, assuming there is a miss fire of course.,did you check the cat yet? were was the coolant leak anyway?

Well I hit the catalyctic converter with a rubber mallet and it wasn't rattling, but I hit a piece closer to the end of the muffler and it sounded like something was in there rattling a bit..you see the car doesn't always rattle just sometimes..and the coolant leak was from a hose I think it was going to ac or something but we fixed that right away..

well sounds like the baffle in your muffler, has broken.. take off your muffler and shake the muffler, that will tell ya.coolant lines dont connect to a.c lines ,but glad you fixed it.

Yeah you think if I put a new muffler that will fix it??another thing too yesterday I was driving first time I drove kinda far inna while and I kept feeling some kind of heat coming from the arm rest like where the emergency brake is and my gas seems to be going by quicker but I'm guessing that's from the p0172 code..thanks for your advice man, appreciate it..

heat from armrest area, i belive under car in that area is the cat? have a look. if your cat is plugged or broken inside,, i.e the rattle noise,it will get hot and melt inside if gets hot enough, i still think the cat needs replacment but muffler could be pooched to,, maybe u have 2 issues?
