Hey guys. I'm new to the world of being able to afford a decent car (and car forums). So i'm looking to buy a 1997-2000 honda civic hatchback. I want to know what I'm getting into before I make a committment. Any suggestions on what upgrades would be good to start out with, if any, are totally welcome. I want a sweet running car by the time I'm done. If you guys have any advice at all, I'm totally open to it. Thanks.

Suspension upgrades are always cool. Sway bars, struts, coilovers, etc. You can also do some engine mods too like headers and a cold air intake or short ram intake

I'd like to stay away from a full engine swap if i can. I might just stick to sway bars and coilovers, and maybe a ram air. A mini-me might be alright too later. I'm looking at a 99 civic cx so yeah. I'd like to avoid ricing it out at all costs. The guys around here that rice their cars out get beaked so much, it's just not worth it. Is there anything a guy should stay away from at all costs?
