auto trans reliability

I am looking at getting a 99 civic that has 181,000 miles and an auto tranny. I was wondering to the reliability of these transmissions as I will need to keep the car for 5-6 years and 100K more miles any help or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Re: auto trans reliability

change the fluid if it has been regularly changed. if not then changing it can cause damage. even if the transmission goes they are very cheap for a replacement. around 200+
