i have a 2000 honda civic lx and it will only turn on sometimes...when it doesnt want to turn on it cranks and starts smelling. a lot like gas i have replaced the fuel pressure regulator and i have put 2 fuel system cleaners in the tank...if i disconnect the fuel line that is connected to the fuel rail and pinch it or cover it with a rag and crank the car it will turn on and then i reconnect it and the car will then turn on put shaky and i have to press the gas a lot for it to stay on...any suggestions im starting to hate this car i end up stranded everywhere!!

Check the actual fuel pump. That can go out over time and cause the issue it sounds like you're having a new regulator won't solve your issue if you're not getting fuel in the first place..
