Need Turbo Help! Got Questions 98 Civic Si

I am looking to turbo my 1998 Honda Civic Si Coupe with a D16Y8 engine. I have a few questions. Like why some turbo kits will not work with A/C and Power Steering and others will? Also what are the advantages of turbo vs a swap? as well as the parts list I would need to ensure my build goes smoothly.

P.S. I will be hopefully rebuilding the engine a bit to ensure it can take the turbo without blowing the engine!

If you have any comments or anything like that, please post! Would love some feedback and advice.

Thanks

Re: Need Turbo Help! Got Questions 98 Civic Si

The A/C and P/S take up an astronomical amount of room in your engine bay, so to make a turbo fit you need piping that's able to work around it. It's not that the turbo won't work, it just won't fit. A B-swap will run you about the same amount of money that it would cost to boost your D, but the turbo would yield you much better power results. Head work isn't required but recommended if you plan on running 10psi+. While you got the head off I'd take the block out and freshen it up. New rings, bearings, possibly hone the cylinders. I'd look at spending around $3500.

It is the Canadian Si, therefore, came with a standard D16Y8 That is why it is not a B series. The B series came in the US model and also the D16Y8 is SOHC VTEC the B series from the US is DOHC VTEC

Ok, Makes sense now. I was confused because my 97' EX had the D16Y8 stock.
