Wrong Tranny fluid.

I need to know if running the wrong transmission fluid will damage the transmission? I recently changed my transmission fluid and the fluid that came out looked like automatic tranny fluid.

Re: Wrong Tranny fluid.

Manuals are more resistant to incorrect fluids than automatics, so I think you'll probably be okay if you haven't started experiencing problems already.

Re: Wrong Tranny fluid.

even in an auto, wrong fluid should not cause serious damage. it may affect shift quality, but a fluid alone will not destroy mechanical parts unless it is completely the wrong kind and leads to excessive heat buildup which can cause permanent damage.
