Engine Lacking Power
Engine Lacking Power
Hey guys,
I have a 2000 Civic LX and here are the symptoms:
When I am driving the engine will suddenly "bogg" down. In other words it just starts to die down even if I give it gas and the car starts vibrating. I then stop the car and let it idle for a few minutes and everything is ok till the next time it decideds to act up. What could be the cause of this??
I have tested my O2 sensor and it is fine... I have also tested the resistance of my ignition coils and they are fine to... What else could I test? And is there more then one way to test the ignition coils, maybe they only mess up while driving?
Thanks!
Pat

Re: Engine Lacking Power
I just changed the spark plugs, I guess I will go borrow a pressure gauge and check the fuel line pressure to see if its messed up.
Is there anything in particular that I might want to look for except for that?

Re: Engine Lacking Power
If it was the O2 sensor I would think it would throw a code seeing as the only reason for the OBD2 standard is emissions.
First thing to do is scan for codes. Just because the light isn't on doesn't mean it doesn't have a code stored. If you don't have access to a scanner just about any autoparts store will have a scanner (Autozone for sure has 'em). Post the specific code if any.
Since you checked for spark the next thing to do is check fuel pressure and the air filter
