99' Civic HX Cat question
99' Civic HX Cat question
I'm going to try and make this as clear as I can but I myself only have a little info to work with so here it is. I had purchased a '99 Civic about a year ago and its just been sitting in my driveway ever since. I have finally decided to get it registered and in working shape, but theres a problem. I remember when my dad had bought the car, the person he bought it from told him that the cat didn't work and basically he "knew a guy" who could pass its inspection. We declined. But now its time to make things right with the car and it needs a new cat. I have searched google and have found them ranging from $175-500+, the more expensive ones seem to include a manifold. Heres my question, do i need to replace the manifold if the cat doesnt work, or just the cat? I know that sounds confusing but, Do i need to buy a whole $500 cat combo or just buy a $175 cat. How can I tell if the one I have is even out? Its a '99 civic HX.
