Fuel Maxx/ Battery/ Radio
Fuel Maxx/ Battery/ Radio
Ok, so my sons 99 EX that he just bought has a Fuel Maxx attatched to it. A guy I work with who knows a little more about Civics suggested i remove it and then disconnect the batter for about 15 minutes re reset the ECU, but warned that the radio will not work after that. I read the post that said to call Honda etc. to get reregiostered to my name and get a code. Is there any way to make the radio display the code before I disconnect the battery or is it really necessary to disconnect the battery after removing the fuel maxx? Thanks, Pat

Re: Fuel Maxx/ Battery/ Radio
just a warning, ive never been able to get codes for the pre-2001 civics. so try not to erase it. there should be an ecu fuse you can pull out which is like disconnecting the battery. i highly doubt you need to reset the ecu just for a fuel max lol. it doesnt do anything. and even if it does, the ecu relearns on its own anyway.

lol, what some ppl will buy, o god that made me laugh. They come out with these gimmicks every few years just like that tornado insert for the air intakes what a joke. Anyhow that said no you do not need to disconnect the battery to remove that useless piece of junk. If you ever want to reset the ecu there is a ecu fuse that you can pull and keep power to the radio, in addition removing that fuse for 30 seconds will reset the ecu for you.
