First completed civic project of the new year :)
Well I've been at this project for the last 10 hours or so, ripping out my old system, taking almost the entire car apart then putting it all back together...but I must say.. I am impressed.
Before, I had a 5 channel amp, and for awhile I have been considering running a 4 and a 1. Well, thanks to Gearbox, I got my hands on a nice alpine 4 channel amp. Today, I just finished installing it, and I must say I am incredibly impressed. Unfortunately, I go back to school on Tuesday, so I will have to get a monoblock and a 12'' Alpine Type R (Or a Kenwood KFC-W3012...haven't decided), along with a Pioneer DEH-P6200BT and I'll slap it all together when I get back in March. Anyway, I mounted the amp underneath the driver side seat, and I must say, it turned out really good! (But I f'ed up my blinkers somehow..so i'm in the middle of troubleshooting that..=/)
I ran the power wire through the firewall and underneath the carpet...the speaker wires and RCA's I snaked up through the trim along the side of the car. Turned out very clean!
I was thinking about making a DIY out of this but I was half-way through it before it occurred to me, but if anyone has any questions about the install feel free to PM me!
Anyhow, here are some pics! (sorry for the bad quality -- poor lighting in my garage)
In the middle of the demo....

Seat almost all the way up...

Seat all the way back (I'm 6' 5''--so it works out
)

This amp is supposed to run very cool, and I have some plan B's in case it does get hot down there. Either way, more pics to come in March when I get this project back in gear.
Happy New Years!

very nice, that amp hardly ever got warm so you should be fine. i had it under the seat too. for the blinkers, make sure you plugged back in the hazard light switch above the radio.

Very nice
That's the same location I plan to install my JL 500/1 later on this year
unless I make a custom trunk floorboard first

Your going to need to do an SRS reset once you put your seats back in because your airbag light will be on.
Looks good so far on the install. Make sure you use your deck's built in EQ to tune the speakers to sound good in your car while driving. Most likely everything on the stock settings will sound like **** out the box.
And did you run the power and speaker cables different routes so they dont interfere with eachother- its hard to tell from the blurry pics
Goodluck on finishing it up

When I finished putting everything together you cant tell that theres an amplifier in the car at all.. even when I open the trunk, which is exactly how I planned it. Now I gotta figure out where to put my monoblock, I think I might bolt it upside down underneath the trunk floorboard.

Depending on what amp you get, I wouldnt recommend mounting it under the floorboard, as that creates heat that cant be dissipated.
I would probably make a board on the side of your trunk to hold the amp up.

Here are some finished pics!
Once I get some trunk lining you won't see the wire in the back
Yeah, its as bad as it looks...Needs some cleaning up.. and electrical tape..

I drilled a hole through the thing on the bottom and ran through the USB/Zune adapter so I can control my zune from my head unit and it just sits there and is constantly charging.. Kinda nifty.
This is irrelevant but I did it while I had the car apart... I spliced my Tom-Tom charger wire with my cigarette lighter so I don't have cables all over the place. I never have anything plugged into my ciggy lighter so i'm not worried about it overheating.

Haha, yes thats my HID fuse, and yes, I know...no intake, and yes, I know, those are some rusty endlinks...welcome to New England =[..... new battery ties though!
