1997 civic cx

i just picked up another EK but this time a hatch i mean this thing is completely base no pwer steering a/c or even rear window wiper. it has a d16y7 in it with 450 000 kms on it i paid 400 bucks for it. body is still in very good shape has a couple surface rust spots and a minor dent. the rear quarters are mint tho. eventually i am planning on making it a EK9 replica. but i have just ran into some problems with the d16 as it is to cold to do a swap now i need to keep the D alive. as it seems i am only running on 3 cylinders as i dont believe the 3rd cylinder from the left is firing, i mean i have spark and i have fuel i dont think i have compression though. so when the car is cold it runs rough like a normal 3 cylinder would but as soon as it warms up it becomes undrivable, like t begins to sputter and tug kind of sounds like a snow blower. no im thinking my cat could be clogged and contributing to the problem as i believe it should still run on 3 cylinders just really rough, any ideas? , also my sedan is off the road due to a broken ball joint, and snapped drive shaft

Re: 1997 civic cx

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Try changing the fuel filter, an check the fuel pressure. Clean the injectors. And see what codes it's throwing.

Also check the spark, and change the cap/rotor. The coil may have gone bad.

Re: 1997 civic cx

i have been away busy but i believe i have found the problem it was fuel and i believe a bad injector is to blame i purchase some fuel injector cleaner and put some in and drove all day and runs 10x better i will pick up a filter in the morning and eventually replace the fuel rail and injectors thanks everyone
