Adding Keyless Entry to Manual Locks

I have been researching adding on keyless entry to my 1998 Honda Civic DX (2 door). The locks and windows are both manual. Through my research I am returning conflicting results. Some people say that you can add keyless entry to any car even if the locks aren't manual, while others state that it is impossible.

I should tell you that I just bought this car two days ago, so I am not real familiar with the inner workings in the door. The only thing I really want to do is get into my car without using the key and maybe locking the doors after I exit the car via the remote.

Therefore I pose three questions. Is it possible to get keyless entry on manual locks? If so, are you familiar with any kits that work well with the Civic (maybe one you have used or another member)? And Finally are there any other components I need to buy besides the keyless entry kit?

Thanks in advance

Re: Adding Keyless Entry to Manual Locks

car alarm installation can put in ur motor for the locks and run the wires through the door. i seen this done on a 93 civic coupe dx
you can find the lock solonoid at any salvage yard
u probly need extra components but yes it can be done
do a little more research you can get there.
either that if u can take out the door panels and look at the lock mechanism
theres probly a spot where u bolt on the lock solonoid and run the wires through. good luck dont let others say that it cant be done

Re: Adding Keyless Entry to Manual Locks

Thanks for the information. I like the kit you showed me. I also found this kit at http://www.emiata.com/KEPL/HondaCivic.htm . I like this kit because it allows you to add a trunk kit as well as alarm if needed. The price is good as well. The site is a little outdated, but it is secured when you order. ANyone have any ideas if this is an alright kit for what I am doing? Or do you know if the kit you ordered allows a trunk kit? I saw you can buy the parts for pretty cheap ($15 I think).
