So I have a 2000 Civic Si, and I am noticing that my trunk lid is ‘sliding down’

I do not know how to explain it, but there is a growing space b/w my rear window and the trunk lid itself. And If you look at the back of the car straight on, the tail lights ( part on trunk lid, other half on car body) do not light up. The lights on the trunk lid are lower. It’s as if the trunk lid is sinking down. It has gotten worse of the past month or so, so I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and could possibly offer some advice or if there is anything I can do to fix it myself?

Check for loose hinge bolts. #'s 2 and 3 are the hinges: http://www.bkhondaparts.com/billkay/...itch=&hidIrno= If that's not it, you may try replacing the hinges. *Be careful. To take the hinges off you have to remove the trunk lid springs (#'s 14 and 15) and if your not careful they can snap a finger.

As to the lights not working: It's a common problem, the wires break from the trunk lid opening and closing so many times. Trace the wires back to where they broke (don't worry,it'll be in the trunk).
