Any other ideas on boggy engine?

Heres the gist of whats going on:
98 Honda Civic EX automatic (completely stock):
One cold morning the check engine light suddenly came on with error with 'idle control system malfunction' or something of the sort.

my idle now jumps (about two beats per second) from 1000 to 2000
while driving, it acts completely normal except the second you press the gas it jolts hard, and the second you let go of the gas, it jolts hard. other than that it runs smooth.

I removed and cleaned the Idle Control Valve and when i started my car back up it idles perfectly for about 5 minutes.. then went right back to previous behavior.

NEXT STEP? thanks for any help

did you clean all the other sensors and stuff bolted to the intake mani and tb? and the tb itself? theres a bunch more things you can pull off and clean thats related to idle control.
