Overheating with A/C on
Overheating with A/C on
My 98 Honda Civic LX is overheating but it seems to be only when the A/C is on and I sit in any traffic. Happens pretty quickly with AC on medium setting.
I tested it out by driving for a while with the AC on and off and it happens like clockwork with AC on, but is fine with it off.
When the AC is on at Idle the engine seems to vibrate more and its definitely robbing a lot of power. I'm thinking I need to check belts, or increase idle speed, or flush coolant.
Any other ideas or some direction?

Re: Overheating with A/C on
see if both fans are running when the ac is on. some shaking is normal, but you might also have to clean the intake system (idle air parts) so it better adjusts the idle when under load. make sure the belt isnt too tight, test the coolant with those cheap bulb testers at walmart.
