anti theft or keyless entry?

Hey I have a 2000 Honda Civic and have installed some new stereo equipment. I had a question about the stock keyless or antitheft system that comes with the car. Will a broken window set off the alarm or only unauthorized opening of an armed door? I feel like the stock system does not have a sensor for the windows included. I am not about to break my window to test it, but I would like to know before I go and buy an aftermarket system. I am just scared of the windows as a vantage point.
Has anyone had an experience when they have been broken into through the windows without an alarm going off?
Please let me know since everyday I am paranoid of leaving my car alone in my parking lot that has the remnants of other shattered windows

Re: anti theft or keyless entry?

usually keyless entry only means the doors lock and unlock, not an actual alarm system. honda does sell its own security system, but its an add-on part. an easy way to test is roll down the window and lock the doors with the keyless button. then unlock the door with your hand and open it. if no alarm, then you only have keyless entry. and if you want shock sensor, you have to go aftermarket.

Yeah get an alarm!! I learned the hard way...woke up one morning to find my back side window shattered on the ground and my subs, amp, speakers, CD player, iPod, and battery all gone....a week later i tinted my windows (so they couldn't see in) and got an alarm along with a new system!

No, many factory alarms do not have glass sensors. As gear said just because you hear the beep sound does not mean you have an alarm, test it like gear said. The alarm was an accessory add on.

Does you keyless entry system has a car alarm function?
If there is anybody who broken your window, of course, it will set off the car alarm. And if there is an undentified person who is trying to open your car. It also will trigger the alarm. There is a shock sensor which can detect the environment in the car.

Here I wanna know is your keyless entry system come along with the original car?
If not I suggest you to buy a whole set smart key system car alarm
which include keyless entry keyless go and windows automatically rolling up!

Re: anti theft or keyless entry?

So if i get what youre saying, even the standard alarm does not have a glass function?
Mine has the alarm feature where if you unlock it from the inside after using the remote, the alarm sounds. But I would guess that if someone broke the glass, it would not sound? I had a radio stolen a while ago but the window was not broken and the alarm did go off so I'm guessing it was a pro or someone who knew this model car, or someone that is just determined enough. I had my stock radio on a shelf at home and was listening to tunes within 5 minutes of being home tho =) but now with the subs hooked up, and the other amplifiers under the seats, I dont want to risk that anyone knows already what is in my car. If it doesn't have a glass sensor I think will be going aftermarket. Any suggestions?
And is it usually easy to install yourself with a harness kit like stereo kits? or do you have to physically cut the wires like you would have to with a stereo without a stereo kit?
I am good with the installations and would rather install it myself than take it to a shop but I am just wondering what to anticipate if anyone else has done it themselves

No glass detection. Mostly aftermarket alarms have it. You would need an aftermarket system installed, which would require splicing etc.

Re: anti theft or keyless entry?

usually the shock sensor will be triggered if someone hits the glass hard enough to break it. it will work even with a softer blow. they do sell glass sound sensors tho if youre really concerned that someone will use a diamond cutting wheel like in the movies.
