Installing short Ram intake HELP 2000 Civic SE
So i have a 2000 Civic SE and I am looking at installing a short ram intake. The thing is i cant find anywhere any basic how-to's for installing one. The current air intake puts the filter right above the engine. And there is this large box over to the left/front. Im new to air intake, most other things aren't a problem for me, but thanks for any advice.
My questions are:
1. What is the box to the left over by the front (in the pic with the arrow)?
2. Will i have to remove that entire filter part over the engine?
3. Does anyone have a link to a site that has an install guide?

First take off the box that connects to the intake manifold, then work your way to the headlight. That one box is most likely a part of the intake system and your going to want to remove it if it is. You don't want useless items just sitting in your engine bay, the short ram not only alows your engine to breathe better, it also cleans up your bay.

Cool that is exactly what i was looking for, Thanks so much. Just one last question, not sure if you know the asnwer, but im seeing alot of parts around for all models such as the EX, DX, LX, HX etc, are most parts for these models similar to mine, the SE as far as i know is a canadian make, but ive heard that alot of the parts from these models should work. Not sure if thats the case, any help is appreciated there.

Specifically a short Ram intake, im looking off ebay for the pipe, then im going to purchase an AEM filter. But the short ram is labelled as civic EX, HX and Si. Now the seller was of no help at all lol, he didnt really provide me with an answer. But basically, will the same ram intake pipe need to be modified or should it work with the SE model. From what i can tell the EX and SE are the same engine.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

No, you have a d16y7 (i'm pretty sure, check on the block to the left of the exhaust manifold) Which is different from the USDM EX which in Canada is an SI. I think thats how it goes. But ne ways you want a short ram for a d16y7 (make sure u check the tag on the block)

Ok cool, i actually just found out more about that engine that you said, it is in fact a d16y7 engine. The compatible models of the same engine are
Found in:
1996-2000 Honda Civic DX/VP/LX/CX
1999-2000 Honda Civic Special Edition - SE(Canada)
1996-97 Honda del Sol S
1997 Honda Civic Coupe LSI
Guess that answers my question. Thanks so much for the help

Re: Installing short Ram intake HELP 2000 Civic SE
Ok so, i get everything on how to install one now, I am just a little confused.
I found this pipe that they CLAIM is for the LX, DX which is my model compatibility, and i have recently looked at an LX 2000 which has the same intake as my 2000 SE (Big clunky boxes etc as in picture).
This is the link to the pipe, basically im gonna get a pipe and a good filter such as an AEM one
http://cgi.ebay.ca/1996-2000-Honda-C...ht_3957wt_1165
What i dont get is, this pipe is straight, and the one i will need should be curved right? Since my intake hole is vertical I can't see how this could work. Could i simply take the old intake plastic pipe off and attach the new one to the box, and remove the internal filter? or do i still need to remove the entire box?

Re: Installing short Ram intake HELP 2000 Civic SE
In all honesty, I think they put the filter on the wrong end of the intake. If this is true, do you really want to purchase a product from a company that doesn't even take the time and put the picture together properly? If I was you I would just purchase an AEM Short Ram. Its about $100, but its a good, quality item that later on you will be pleased with. I'm sure if you buy the ebay brand you will want to upgrade later...

Haha nice. thats really nice looking. So i got the email from them, the retards reversed it just like you thought ahaha. I can't get over that, they won't even take the time to fix it. Heres their response:
"Actually it will fit, cuz our graphic staff reversed the filter & rubber piece."
Lmao, gotta love the slang thrown in there too.
Nice car tho I like the red in the engine. How do i go about getting a nice shiny engine cover like that?

Also, i was looking at my engine this morning and that hose you have the comes from the engine to the pipe of the intake, what is it? It connects to mine as well, the stock system i mean, but what exactly is it and is it simple to disconnect and reconnect to the new one?
Re: Installing short Ram intake HELP 2000 Civic SE
lol ya I'm not the biggest fan of Ebay...
But ya the VC was already half way polished when I got it so all the difficult work was done, I only had to spend 8hrs polishing it by hand lol But If you want to polish ur VC, i'm sure there are a few DIY write-ups so just look around.
Its just some ventilation, some guys put a little K&N on there... but i don't recall ever seeing one on a D-series.
