Exclamation 2000 ex engine problems

My 2000 ex has 148,000 miles and i believe i need a new engine because it looks like i broke a bearing or something cause there are now metal shards in my oil and a horrible knocking noise coming when it starts up. Im looking to do a swap now and i need some feedback on what engines would be easy swaps and somewhat cheep. Also looking to switch to a 5 speed.

Re: 2000 ex engine problems

well, im sure you could pick up another d16y8 tranny/motor used (60k~ miles) for about 1,400$ (ballparking it) .. if you wanted to go nuts, go for the b16, but thats gonna run you at least another thousand dollars.

Re: 2000 ex engine problems

i have heard that the b18 maybe the better way to go then a b16 cause of the torque. any thoughts on that?
