rev problems and check engine light

I just installed the MSD blaster external coil and modified rotor and distributor cap today on my 98 honda civic ex. About half way home from my friends, the check engine light turned on and the revs on my car got really weird. Its almost as though it skips a beat, and it has a lot of trouble starting to move when I hit the gas and the ride feels really not smooth. I'm not exactly sure how to describe this problem but its almost as if the car is bucking like a manual does when someone sucks at driving it, I have an automatic so this never happens generally. I'm worried that this new mod may be damaging my car in someway but itd be nice if i could figure out what I did wrong, Everything seems to be wired correctly and connected properly so I don't know why this is happening. I'm about to reinstall the old cap and rotor because I don't want anything to happen. Does anyone know anything about those MSD coils and whatnot, do I need to have a complete MSD ignition to go with it or can I just buy the coil and distributor to use with the stock ignition?
