Cel p0141

OK to save a big story for why the harness was cut, i'll start by saying honda wanted too much money to replace my exhaust manifold, ebay had full exhaust kits for 250$. Needed to pass emissions didnt have the 600$ honda wanted for the manifold.

ok 98 DX with almost stock D16y7, fuel rail was replaced by previous owner, intake manifold is short ram(a.k.a. no intake piping).

I passed emissions, pulled out of the testing bay and the CEL came on before i left the parking lot, didn't worry about it, did get it tested, knew what it was but it was december and i didn't have a heated garage to promote me fixing a car that i now had tags for.

CEL was for the P0141. it's well past my one year latter, i hate having to look around for cops everywhere i go, especially as i'm a delivery driver while in school. I recently replaced the wires i used to extend the o2 sensor plug on a thursday, drove friday to clear readiness monitors after resetting computer several times. CEL stayed off saturday, sunday and monday, our facility is not open on monday(?!?), snowed too much to be safe to drive on, on tuesday, and CEL returned on wednesday, same code.

I noticed when i re-extended the wires this time, that one of them is shielded, which i thought was the cause of my previous failior on one side i had spliced into the shielded wire(white with red stripe) on the other side the shielding. The new extension is spliced into the white with red stripe on both sides, this is what caused the code to go away for so many days. I have heard rumors NOW, that cutting the o2 harness will leave you with a permanent CEL, one, i dont believe that, two, i wont accept that. So my question is why am i still getting this code?

Re: Cel p0141

Check your splicing. How are your soldering skills? A good solder job is dull, not shiny. No a permanent light is impossible by cutting wires then reattaching them if it's done well.

Go buy some shielded wire and replace that one while properly attaching the shielding and make sure your soldering was done well.
