What gas mileage mods can I do to my 6th gen?
Hi all. I just wanted to ask what all gas mileage mods/parts I could do to add a little MPG to my 1997 Honda Civic EX. I believe it is the 1.8 liter? I forget, but that may be the only engine that you could even get in the EX. Anyone know? Anyway, the engine has 240,000 miles on it. But as it is a honda, it could likely go for another 110K miles or more. I have seen them do it many times, as I am sure you have.
On my Chevy 5.7L V8 truck, I was able to squeeze out a whopping 2.2 more miles per gallon, (city! haven't bothered to check highway) by adding some aftermarket parts that just let the motor run a little more efficiently than it normally would. And at 240k on the clock, my little civic could use a little boost in power and gas mileage. Such parts might include, but are not limited to: An MSD aftermarket ignition system, an entire performance exhaust system including header, E3 spark plugs, a less restrictive air cleaner setup, a self heating oxygen sensor, etc etc.
So what is yall's imput on this? I am sure I must have left some things off the list. Can anyone think of anything else I might could add or do, to squeeze out a little more gas mileage out of my 6th gen? I am not an aggressive driver at all, I don't speed and I don't act like a teenager behind the wheel. Just to get that out of the way lol
