2000 civic ex running problems

my problem is that when i take off from a complete stop whether the engine is hot or cold. mainly through 1-3rd gear it almost seems like a fuel cut or something..?? basically the car will act like it is shutting of for about 10 seconds. Then i can finally hammer on the gas and it runs normal. I have replaced the spark plugs and gapped them properly. replaced the fuel filter. also have replaced both o2 sensors after a check engine light was on. Now I have no check engine light and its bucking like a bronco???

let me know what you think

Check your distributor cap for buildup on the electrodes or whatever they are called. Check the rotor to see if it's burned. What brand plugs/02 are you running? Bosch is known to have problems on civics.

It could be fuel related though.

ive got the stock oem spark plugs/ ngk recommended. the o2 sensors i put on it were bosch from oreilly's. they were not the universal kind though. but i thought that could be it too. the only thing that puzzles me is that the check engine light does not come on???

If both the old 02 and the new 02 sensors give you the same symptoms, I doubt that it's the sensors that are the problem. I don't know what to tell you though because it's too vague on a forum.

Re: 2000 civic ex running problems

I think i figured it out. I tried the ol' isolation diagnosis. First i unplugged the rear o2 sensor and tried as discribed to get the car to fail. It still cut fuel and bucked until stomped to full throttle. So the second time I re connected the secondary o2 sensor. Unplugged the primary o2 sensor (on the header) and tried to get my car to act up and FINALLY it didnt buck. So I went to reconnect the primary o2 sensor and I found that THE DAMN THING WAS ABOUT HALF THREADED -- LOOSE. After I hooked it back up and tightened it properly. (Cross my fingers) ITS RUNNING B--E--A- UTIFUL

yeah i was also gonna suggest you might have put the wrong sensor in, or switched the primary with secondary. i did that because auto store gave me the wrong one, and car was acting weird and engine light came back on.
