2000 civic se tachometer
i want to put a tachometer in my car but i dont want a ricey one id like to put a stock civic one in so i was thinking i could go out and get another cluster from a car with a tach in it and put it in mine but what im worried about is all i will have to do is plug it in and the tach will work automaticly or do i have to do somthing in the motor like get another part to the the tach to work thankss
Re: 2000 civic se tachometer
well im not to worried about backlight il prolly put my own lighting in it anyways but you said to keep to the same body and tranny well i think the se models only came in automatic and i dont believe any of them had a tach so could i not pull it out of like a older civic ? like between the years of 96 and 00 ?

it needs to be the same generation for it to plug in and work properly. im not sure, but i think 99-00 is different from the older years.
Re: 2000 civic se tachometer
Just make sure it's close. It's illegal to put a cluster in that shows less than... I think it's 5000 kms or something like that than yours... I'm taking a wild guess but I know there are people on here that know the numbers... Be careful.
Re: 2000 civic se tachometer
lol well my car just rolled 300 km's ! lol so thats a huge diffrence ! what makes it illegal? what if i just swapped it to the old one if i wanted to resell my car ?
Re: 2000 civic se tachometer
I think you might be able to take it to a dealership and they can make a certificate which states the milage on car prior to instilation and the milage that was on the cluster. this would make it legal and much less of a hassle when selling the car. I have a certificate that says mine was changed at 95k miles
