Plug and play. Just be sure to get one from a car with the same transmission you currently have.

Re: 2000 civic se tachometer

well im not to worried about backlight il prolly put my own lighting in it anyways but you said to keep to the same body and tranny well i think the se models only came in automatic and i dont believe any of them had a tach so could i not pull it out of like a older civic ? like between the years of 96 and 00 ?

Re: 2000 civic se tachometer

it needs to be the same generation for it to plug in and work properly. im not sure, but i think 99-00 is different from the older years.

That's the hard part. You have to find one that is very close to your mileage.

Re: 2000 civic se tachometer

Just make sure it's close. It's illegal to put a cluster in that shows less than... I think it's 5000 kms or something like that than yours... I'm taking a wild guess but I know there are people on here that know the numbers... Be careful.

Re: 2000 civic se tachometer

I think you might be able to take it to a dealership and they can make a certificate which states the milage on car prior to instilation and the milage that was on the cluster. this would make it legal and much less of a hassle when selling the car. I have a certificate that says mine was changed at 95k miles
