engine swap for beginners

i just got a 1998 honda civic hx manual transmission and i wanted to swap the engine but keep the tranny what engine block would best fit my 5 speed tranny??

The ONLY fit is a D series. Unless you plan on spending thousands getting a machine shop to make another series fit.

Why would you want to keep the original transmission? Unless, you want to have another great gas mileage car anyway...and why dump the HX engine then with it's wide band O2 sensor and all it's capable of?
