cant get past 4k :/
cant get past 4k :/
i recently installed an intake, intake manifold, and headers for my 2000 civic ex. (couldnt put the new throttle body cause it needs to be fabricated a bit.)
but when i drive the car wont down shift at all. like ill be going 40mph and ill floor it and it wont drop down a gear, it will keep cruising(slowly) to the next gear. as well it wont get past 4k rpm. soo my car feels super slow. why is this??

Re: cant get past 4k :/
is the engine light on? chances are your air/fuel mix is messed from all those mods and no tuning. you cant just totally change the stock parts out and expect more power.
Re: cant get past 4k :/
yeah, its on. what would you do to tune it??
but i have another problem cause i need a new IAC(for an SI) cause the new throttle body doesnt support the EX IAC. soo the new IAC(SI) has to be placed behind the intake manifold, instead of under the throttle body. but the plugs for the new Idle Air Controller are round and have 2 prongs, the EX IAC is rectangle and 3 pronged. what would you do??? sorry, if that didnt make sense

Re: cant get past 4k :/
well first see what the engine light comes out to be. any auto store should be able to tell you. even if the iac has problems or isnt working, that only affects idle spped not how the car accelerates. my bet is on the intake mani causing the problem. what kind did you get and does it have space for all the old sensors? alot of those mani are only for turbo cars and the ports are too big for a normal motor. if i were you put the stock manifold back and i bet the car will be fine again.
Re: cant get past 4k :/
yeah, the manifold is from skunk 2 (70mm). and it does have extra holes so a turbo could be installed. is there any way to keep the manifold on?? cause i spent quite a bit for the setup. and the company varified with me that everything will fit for a Ex civic. soo im really irked, cause nothing seams like its gonna work.

Re: cant get past 4k :/
i kinda doubt it. the air just isnt moving fast enough thru the setup you have. honda engines are weak to start and all the intake and exhaust parts are made small to support that and keep the air moving at a good velocity. you can try getting a fuel controler like vafc and tune on a dyno, but i dont think thats the problem. if you had a turbo and it was forcing in tons more air, then yeah it would work really well.
first thing i would do tho is figure out why the check engine light is on and find a way to turn it off by fixing whatever went wrong. i bet the rpm limit is a safety from the light being on. may not be related to anything other than protecting the motor if its a serious problem.
