civic 2000 ex noisy using s2000 cluster mod

Anyone will know why changing my cluster using the s2000 cluster mod will make the motor like running harder and noisy? if I put it back the old cluster noise goes away?
All signals going to cluster don't go back to ECU? do they?

actually i think some do, and also there are multiplex units for controling the dials. im not sure anyone has done that swap so i cant say for sure what the problem is other than theyre not compatible.
