Does anyone know where the charcoal evap canister is located on a 1998 Civic LX? It is not in the owners manul. The Haynes manual for 1996-2000 Civics states that it is on the drivers side against the fire wall. Can't find it there either. I have a 1457 code showing up so I want to check the hose connections first before I take it in. Just can't find the canister! Thanks!!

Glad you found it. Helms (factory) is the only manual to trust IMO .

Hi dears,

I am quite new to this forum, however, quite familiar to my civic 98 (4 door). my check engine is on and technition (after asking CA$95 for deactivating the 1457 code and locating the problem) told that if it came again, it is due to canister check valve. Now it came again and I deactivated it three times by disconnecting the battry. I asked from Honda dealer in Quebec city, they asked around CA$257 just for the canister vent shut valve. So I have decided to change it.
The question is that:
where is the location of canister vent shut valve?
is non-origin canister vent shut valve appropriate?
