D16Y8 N/A Build Help
Hey guys I have some money coming my way soon and I'd like to take care of my civic. I was originally just going to get Tein's Basic Coilover system and touch up some other parts of the car but a friend of mine is convincing me that I should get some engine work done. Now I've been thinking about it and all I really want is a civic that can beat integras with H/I/E. I have been looking for parts non stop the last few nights and have gotten nowhere other then a few headaches. I want to stay away from boring or honing anything. A money goal is about $750 for parts. Its not a lot but I need to save money for other things and the labor yet.
Again just something that can get the integras to stop busting my *****. If you know of stuff that costs more lemme know and I'll think about what can be sacraficed. I just can't take reading about how much everyone bored their D series to and what their clearances are and whether or not their valves are gonna tap or my head may catch fire.
Thank you so much for your help.

Forget about it. The only thing you could do to beat integras is go turbo/compressor. And a good turbo setup, the one that won't break, or even worse damage your engine, will cost you mouch more than 750$. The things you could do is change your exhaust, different camshaft, polish your intake manifold... but that won't get you anywhere near B-series powered integras.

Agreed, a D series is a D series and will never be a B. You don't have the potential NA (and I'm not a fan of forced induction on engines not designed for it). Just get the full coil-overs and improve your driving skill by autocrossing or finding a circuit track schooling event. If you want to drag race, FF is not the easy way but some do enjoy the challenge. I'm definitely a 'learn to turn and brake' kind of person.

Re: D16Y8 N/A Build Help
Thanks a lot guys. I have decided since the original post to go with the suspension due to the front driverside suspension making noises recently after long drives, approx. 3+ hrs.
I thought a D series was able to stay close to integras with a valvetrain upgrade. I mean $1K+ into engine work I'd figure that you could get around 50 more hp. It's apparent I don't know a lot about internals but everyone goes on about the next power upgrade is that and it always results in a lot of gain.
Anyway thanks again guys. I was hoping to finally be able to beat more then just 1 tegger, not quite sure how it happened.

No problem MrPlow. Sorry but any NA D series will never come close to a B series with simple bolt-ons. As far as 'beating' an integra, the driver can make all the difference.
Seriously, try autocross or a circuit performance driving event. You'll find your car is much more suited to that than drag racing!

Re: D16Y8 N/A Build Help
Not quite sure how much a differnce I can make in my car since I have an automatic lol. But I think there was something seriously wrong with the integra. Yeah, one thing I absolutely love about my civic over most of my friends cars is the handling. Even my buddies prelude with minor suspension upgrades can barely keep up with me when all I have is a strut bar. One thing I need to find though is a driving school. Would really like to learn how to CONTROL my car. Yeah I can take turns at 50 without squealing the tires but what do I do when I loose control? Maybe after the school I'll look into competetive autocrossing. Right now I'm more into visuals and sound quality.
