Arrow civic idle problem

i have a honda civic 1.4i 8valve t reg its started with a idle problem its bin like this for 2wks and its embarasing now..
it keeps hunting between 1,000 rpm and 2,000rpm every 1-2 seconds can any one help and point me in the right direction please

dont wana take it to honda dealer its 55quid to plug into a dam computer thats daft i recon and not reasonable

help anyone would be gratefull

i would really check the vacuum if i was you, sounds like a bad pcv valve or a leaky hose somewhere. you can spray some carb cleaner near the lines and listen for rpm changes to find leaks but be careful you dont burn your entire car to the ground lol you pcv valve is supposed to rattle when you shake it, if not then they about ten dollars to replace from napa

I am having the same problem with my civic 1.4i. I was told by mechanic that it was the throttle body so I replaced it with 2 others from scrapyards and still have the same problem! Its revving between 800 and 2000 rpm when idle after it warms up. Does anyone have a solution or any suggestions of what to try?

iam using civic ek3 1999 model. recently i got this problem, normally it ws 500 rpm in idel, after this problem when i transmit to drive rpm comes down , some times it cause to stop the engine. if i put back to neutral positions then rpm comes back to 500. Recently i fixed tv dvd whooper system to my car and that audio mechanic fixed a switch to the subwooper, don.t know some thing happen from that electrical disturbance, please advice on this matter. thanx
