alot of problems at once....

I degreased my girlfriends engine bay for her and for the last two days alot of problems have happened and im completely lost now.....

first her RPM's are much higher than normal about 800 rpm's higher
then her battery light came on
her A/C stop working
now she was at a stop light and the engine died on her.....

She has a brand new battery and radiator so im sure thats not it, plus it didnt all happen until i degreased her engine bay. Please help me out.....i think it could be her fuses and im gonna check and also check her battery and alernator.

Re: alot of problems at once....

Did you soak the F*** out of the alternator? I would go back and check things out make sure you didn't knock off wires or sensors or whatever out of place. If the battery light came on it's probably something electrical.

Re: alot of problems at once....

rule number 1 of detailing: NEVER spray anything in the engine bay. im betting you fried the alternator and probably a few of the idle sensors around the throttle body. and thats the least of your problems. battery light means your charging system is effed. i bet you killed the ac compressor too. well look on the bright side, shouldnt be more than $1000 to fix the damage.

Re: alot of problems at once....

well her car broke down....i feel like a ****in moron. I did the same on my civic (7th gen) and on my friends truck and both were fine....now i had it towed to her house and its time to fix all my wrongs. For starting im gonna replace the alternator and the battery and check all the fuses. from there im lost and im gonna let a professonal do the rest if its still ****ed up.

Re: alot of problems at once....

well alternator and battery is easy, you can goto kragen, advance, or autozone and have them hook up their machine for free. it will say if one or both are bad. the batt is prolly fine, alternator i bet is messed. did you let the car completely dry before starting it?

I bet I know what her engine looked like before you degreased it. Oh boy, do I know. That sucks that girls have no clue wtf is going on under there, so they don't even lift the hood. They're just not interested in that sort of thing, which is why we're here.
