Re: Cluster Swap
I havent heard anyone doing this, so you'd be the first. You need to repin the wires from your existing cluster into the two harness plugs on the back of the 03-05 clusters. Its not too hard. But after you do that, it should work. I dont know if you'd have an issue with the signal/voltage sent to the needles- as in if they would read correctly. Its not a hard job to repin, if your up for it- def try it.
Assuming they are not the same shape, you need to make a custom bezel for the gauge cluster- which is just some plastic or fiberglassing.

Re: Cluster Swap
Yea i figured nobody tried it i searched for awhile but found nothing. I am actually gonna give it a try once i get a 03-05 cluster so ill write up a diy with tons of pics. the only thing that has me worried is if the odometer would function right or at all. anyone got a wiring diagram for the plugs that go into the cluster this would help me out alittle ill pick up a cluster by the end of the month im broke. and if anybody has a 03-05 cluster for cheap let me know i would like to do the red cluster but any 03-05 cluster will work but it needs to have a tach
Re: Cluster Swap
well i hav a 96 civic dx (no tach in the gauge cluster) and i want to swap it with a ex gauge cluster(tach included in cluster). any advice? any additional wiring? this shouldn't b too hard right? :s

Re: Cluster Swap
Basically get the wire diagrams for each cluster and see if any wires have changed. If they have, check out 01hondercivic's DIY on the cluster swap for a video on how to re-pin the connectors.
Re: Cluster Swap
I have already tryed putting a 03-05 cluster in my 97 civic. The gas gauge will be off, your tach and speedo will work along with your odometer. I could not get much more than a few warning lights on the cluster to work because they are simple not labled on the diagram I have nor could I figure out how to get the temp gauges working either. If you have a better layout of what the pins do then please feel free to post it, I ended up just pulling the cluster and giving up.
Re: Cluster Swap
alrite u said manual 4 manual, auto 4 auto with cluster swap. i didn't really think it would make a difference but i got my hands on a cluster from a manual. uhh why does this matter? if u don't mind me asking?

Re: Cluster Swap
maybe try it anyway. i know on the 01+ cars, you can use both, its just you will lose or gain the auto gear indicators. or they might work weird if you have manual and use auto cluster.
Re: Cluster Swap
I have a 96 Honda Civic DX the cluster is working fine but I don't have rpm. So as you said the swap to ex cluster will be easy and useful?? THX
