more HP with low budget
hey fellow civic lovers, I'm a noobie here and was wondering how can I get some HP in my 96 civic dx? I've got an intake and exhaust. what else is there I can do to the engine to make it run alot better and faster with a low budget?

I know it sucks to mod in Cali but your options are limited if you are on a budget. Maybe you can find a street legal aftermarket header. Cheap power is nitrous but I would not recommend that. Look into a performance camshaft but I say save up and swap a b16 in it. They must be dirt cheap now.

u can find some answers here, but u might find more on d-series.org, its more geared towards the d engine, here we are mostly 7th geners, ull find a lot more information for what u need, not that we cant answer ur questions, u just might find more there
Re: more HP with low budget
If your on a budget, then throw the whole "more power with little money" idea. For a D-Series 6th Gen, its hard to make more power with no money. Either boost, or nitrious is really the only way. What goals do you have? 150whp, 200whp, 250whp? Decide first on what you want out of your motor. Then go from there.

well I really want to be faster then my younger bros car he has a ss chevy colbalt!!! I at least want to keep up with him. that is really my goal.
budget wise save about $300 every month.

Re: more HP with low budget
They make boost kits for anything. lol Especially for Civic DX's. Im guessing you have a auto, b/c of your username. If thats the case, swap out for a 5spd tranny. You'll love it. But before you do anything, do ALL the research you can before touching the motor of the car. Trust me, you'll thank yourself.
Re: more HP with low budget
the best u can do is save and buy a nice turbo kit... a swap is all nice and dandy but in alot of cases the engine might come less expensive than the labor for the swap... TURBO!
