Im getting a d16y7 with about 100k on it gonna use this as my project motor im gonna build it from the ground up. It could possibly have a spun rod bearing. I want to turbo it. Now do i need to replace the crankshaft to run boost or will a stock crank work fine if so what aftermarket cranks do you guys recommend

Crank will work just fine if you were building a race motor it would be zero balanced. Il talk to you about this in a few minutes when you come down here (if you dont get lost). With the spun rod bearing, since youll be building internals anyway, you can replace it easy.

Well I forgot so let me list it here, what is recomended...since you are gona have the motor apart anyway, build it. Im talkin forged pistons and rods (pistons for decompression), a new headgasket, ARP headstuds. All of the safety stuff now out of the way, look for a turbo setup. t3 turbos are a favorite. they are externally gated, and a fair size so you get quick spool, good power, and room to advance..dont get a t3/t4 its gona be too big. you will also need injectors, a manifold, blowoff valve, oil lines (tap oil pan for this). you will be able to run like 10-12psi with that, which will be good for 200+whp, and believe me itl feel like a lot coming from a DX hatch with an intake. I can go on and on about this stuff, but it can be had for very cheap. shoot me an IM when you get this nad we can discuss more
I could have given you the turbo in my garage, but with the state its in, if you tried to run it on a setup, it would probbably do more harm than good, its just a decoration now lol
