How to replace airbag in 97 Civic?

How to replace airbag in 97 Civic?
Hi, all. New to the site with a few questions...
My wife's grandmother wrecked her 97 Civic. It's still driveable but both airbags deployed. The car is an automatic with all options and only 20k miles on the odometer. It seems a waste to trash it or part it out so what are my options to get her back on the road again?
Can I buy airbags from Ebay and replace them myself or is that something a certified mechanic must do?
If it's something I can legally do myself, can anyone suggest a reputable seller from which to purchase the salvaged airbags?

Well your options are to fix it yourself, pay someone to fix it, sell it, or do nothing.
I think it is both legal and doable for a shade tree mechanic to replace airbags provided you carefully follow the procedures for doing so in the Honda Factory Manual.
