ECU Question
Today i had my car coded out at autozone. one of the codes read that i have a failed ECM. The ECM i have is the P2P A34 from the d16y8. My civic is an EX but my block cracked on my Y8 and when a shop bought a motor for my car, they put in a Y7 instead of a Y8. Being non-vtec (
), does the Y7 need a different ECM, or do you think mine just really is broken? I don't know if running a non-vtec motor on the v-tec ECM makes any difference or not. Feedback is much appreciated.

Yes the Y7 uses a different ECM, also there are different ECMs for different models, DX and LX, Isuggest you go with an LX as your wheel diameter and weight are almost the same.
I will be selling one for a 96 LX

Re: ECU Question
Normally a P2E ECU (or ECM as you called it) is used to run a Y7.
Now the important thing to know is what exactly was swapped into your car. The Y8 block is essentially the same as the Y7 block except there's a slight difference in compression. Did they just swap the block and keep the Y8 head, injectors, and IM? These parts are very different between the Y7 and Y8 especially the injectors. Your P2P ECU is expecting Y8 injectors that flow at 240 cc/min while the Y7 flows at 180 cc/min. So running the P2P ECU with Y7 injectors could result in a lean air/gas condition.
How about posting up the codes that you got from the scan?
