So the other day I was coming home from work and hit a bump in this customers driveway. All I heard were some funky noises (static or almost like blown speakers) and the radio (stock) died. I turned off my car and checked everything out to find nothing at all wrong.

When I got back in my car, I could smell smoke almost like an electrical fire, but still couldn't find the source. Radio still doesn't work three days later - no security LED, clock or anything.

Main thing I could think of was maybe wires came apart and arced behind the dash causing a little smoke and eventually totally coming apart giving me no connection for power.

All fuses look fine, even swapped em out. Any other method I can try testing it with before I go buy a new radio?

PS - How much would you pay for a timing belt and I think water pump to be replaced?

pull and test the unit and check for shorts in the wiring.

Most likely the radio itself, Blame it on a "tin whisker" Sounded like a cold solder joint or loose connection up until the electrical smell part.

Are your dome lights and keyless entry working o.k. ?? (I think they are tied in through radio)

Do you have a fuse called "back up" in your under hood box ??
