Re: Where to find a transmission for a 2000 civic ex?

A junk yard may be a good idea if you've got a contact there, otherwise you'll want to at least bring someone with who knows transmissions. Transmissions are not as easy to test like an engine.

What I would do is make a couple phone calls. I first would try GotTransmissions.com, they have been very helpful to me in the past on transmissions.

Some other top notch places would be LQK or Greenleaf (also two more of the nation's largest suppliers.) Although LQK and Greenleaf are still considered to be junkyards/recyclers, they are nationwide and also have a good rep.

Be sure to spot check your warranty and make sure you get parts and labor covered.

eBay, craigslist, or the FS section of a forum.
