Question Power steering problem, Pls Help !

Hi guys,
I am a newbie to this forum. I am looking forward to be a part of the civic forum community.
Here is my problem, three weeks before, I found the PS oil was leaking from PS pump of my 2002 Civic HX model. I removed the pump, opened it, found one loose nut on the body of pump, tightened it and installed the pump back.
I refilled the reservoir with Honda PS oil, now the problem is the steering wheel is very hard to move. I tried many times from left to right and drove in neighborhood and college just to get it loosen up, but its not working.
Please help me to figure out how can I make the steering wheel like before, easy to handle.
Thank you.

Re: Power steering problem, Pls Help !

When I had a P/S pump, I raised the car and turned the steering lock to lock, 8 to 10 times, when draining the fluid. And repeated the process when refilling the resevoir. Sounds like there may be air in the system. What type of P/S fluid did you use to refill?

Ok. I understand its air.
I refilled with Honda's genuine PS oil.
How can I get rid of the air from the PS system? any idea?
Thank you maxtierny and mr22508 for your reply

Pop the fluid cap. Put your cars on jacks. Like the old Mamas and the Papas Song - Turn, Turn Turn. Keep filling with fluid.

Re: Power steering problem, Pls Help !

air is supposed to come out as you drive and turn, since the cap is vented, but idk. ive never changed more than 1/2 of the fluid so air was never a problem. i would try the suggestions mentioned already. if there is a ton of air, you need to raise the car and keep turning lock to lock.
