Heated mirrors?
Heated mirrors?
Hey,
I live in Canada and am getting really tired of having to open up my window and scrape off the snow with my fingers. How difficult (and expensive) would it be to upgrade my mirrors to heated mirrors?
What would I need? I've got an 02 LX coupe with power mirrors currently.
I know I'd need a new power mirror control thingy with the heated mirror button, and would i need whole new mirror assemblies or just the actual mirror piece themselves?
has anyone ever done this?

Re: Heated mirrors?
yeah i have them in my car. if you wanted them they are definitely parts you would need to get from the dealer and you would need the harnesses and wiring for them too. the switch is just a little tiny button that sits next to the cruise control and doesnt take a full slot up.
im guessing just the mirrors alone with wiring would be at least 2-300$ minimum, thats not including the paint youd need and all the work involved.

Re: Heated mirrors?
ive seen that switch somewhere. it has a lil mirror icon with some heat lines above it lol. overseas, they have the same thing but the switch is for power-folding the mirrors. well i couldnt find the pic, but this one is similar just with a different icon. im sure if you just got the heated mirrors, you could figure out how to wire it up to your own switch and save $$ on the harness and switch.

Re: Heated mirrors?
They make replacement mirror glass assemblies that pop in and out of the mirror itself... If you could find one of those for the Canadian market it should have the heating element already in place.
The wiring may be a different story, it shows an ORG wire at pin 8 of the mirror switch connector, source voltage for the heaters is the same source that the mirrors motors utilize.

So... if I could get the mirror replacement with the element in it, would it just hook up or do I need another harness?

Re: Heated mirrors?
Honda makes replacement mirror glass. It is made to pop in and out ot the mirror assembly easily if it gets broken.
The non heated replacements retail for $22, for certain one with the element will be more.
You should talk to a dealer in Canada about the heated replacements, they are not shown available for US models.
As far as the harness... most likely you will need to wire it yourself, should not be too difficult except maybe getting the wires into the doors. You will also need the factory switch unless you want to add your own switch.
