Common repairs on 7th gen

I've tried to search for a thread like this, but didn't find anything.

I'm just wondering what are common repairs on the 7th gen? (Things that broke a little too early).

So far, all I know is

1. Shocks
2. Compliance bushing (thx gearbox lol)

I'm trying to get my car to perform like brand new.

Re: Common repairs on 7th gen

Tie rod ends? I had to replace those when I did my shocks. My altnernator belt snapped, and I also needed new bearings for the top mounts on the struts.

Re: Common repairs on 7th gen

The alternator is not capable of handling much more than stock electronics and the trunk release has broken on every 7th generation Civic I've ever seen.

engine mounts too...depends on the car i guess. dont replace stuff unless you know theyre broken. sway bar endlinks sometimes snap.

Re: Common repairs on 7th gen

My car jerks when I'm coming to a stop if I leave it in 1st. I'm guessing it's due to engine mounts (another post was talking about it.)

I ordered the energy suspension engine mount inserts and LCA bushings from dezod, hopefully this is the last of my problems for a while. I still have a that weird "exhaust" vibration when it rains. Has anyone found out what it was?

I'm planning on running the car in summer, then spray the exhaust with water to see what happens lol.

Re: Common repairs on 7th gen

its from the water causing the pipes to expand. actually there was a service bulletin even for the stock exhaust that included a new b-pipe. its basically the pipe sits too close to the frame and can cause rattle when wet. its in there somewhere

Re: Common repairs on 7th gen

my reverse gear follower had a sticking detent ball, causing the reverse gear to move and hit the second gear hub assembly. this only happens when turning to the right in second gear. i see honda came out with a tsb on this not to long ago.

The good old rocking chair driver seat seems to be another common problem.

Don't downshift into first coming up to a stop. That's a no-no on any car.
