Just got into a small accident....

is $400 a good price to fix the hood and bumper, and painted?

my sister backed up into my car
the dent is caused my a tire on the back of her car, and the hole is caused by her muffler.

Re: Just got into a small accident....

You could always check out prices of a carbon fiber hood, and if you wanna get lazy, just buy a nose mask for the car- it would cover up all the bumper damage.

Where was your quote from?

Re: Just got into a small accident....

I found this shop on craigslist :O

How easy is it to install a new hood? I'm looking to sell my car within the next year so i want to fix everything.

Also, how should i check out the shop to make sure they'll do a good job? I'm pretty sure this is a small job for auto shops, so they'll do a good job right? It's an asian auto shop hahaha. They also mentioned they use 3 stage paint. $400 straight to get everything fixed, even some curb scrapes on the bumper that isn't shown in the pictures. does this seem like a deal?

thanks guys, i appreciate the help! damn sister!

Re: Just got into a small accident....

the last small accident i had i was spitting out a beer that had been sitting out on the coffee table for 2 weeks. i confused it with today's... ok it wasn't 2 weeks... so it was yesterday's beer i sipped the nasty **** from the bottom of. anyways 400 bucks isn't small to me. i'd prolly just have it fixed and mention nothing of the sort when u sell it or trade it in

Re: Just got into a small accident....

Had the same accident. Cost me $100 to fix.... OEM bra haha. drove around like that for a year. But no seriously, I did the same thing and the core support bent a little bit and total from my body shop was $1200 to get everything pulled straight. I paid for the bumper and hood though and got it down to around $500 for paint and installation

Re: Just got into a small accident....

hey jlk16118, do you notice how my hood bent in a little bit? do you think the hood can be fixed and properly fitted and look good after a little bit of work? or would i have to buy a new hood?

thanks...and how much did you end up spending for the whole process? can you describe the damage done to your car? i don't want to spend more than $500 getting this baby looking like new

My car looked almost identical to yours. Normally no one will touch a bent or dented hood bc of the frame underneath. My bumper was cracked pretty bad around where the grill mounts and the core support was bent right at the hood latch so the hood wouldnt close the whole way.

The only parts needed were the hood and bumper

Hood and bumper I bought off ebay (OEM honda) for around $250-300
Body shop charged $500 to paint hood and bumper and straighten everything (maybe half an inch out or alignment)

I got 3 insurance estimates and from other body shops for around $1500 so I really think your looking at something more substantial than you think

Re: Just got into a small accident....

$400 seems really good. I have a scratch on my hood thats around 4 inches long thats right down to the metal and slightly dented. Not nearly as bad as yours. I got 2 qutoes, one for around $800 for the hood to be fixed and another $300 or so touch up the bumpers. Another shop said he would do it all for $800. I think the cheapest option would be to get a new hood off ebay and get someone to paint it or check your local scrap yard. Its a common colour so it shouldnt be that hard to find. Tell me how it goes. Im in the same boat as you.

Re: Just got into a small accident....

well, i talked to this asian body shop owner and he said they would pull the dent out, put some bondo? on it, even it out, then paint it. he said he would align the hood for me and that it was an easy task.

should i go with him? he quoted me $400 by the pictures, but he quoted me in person for $450 for everything including paint and dents. i'm very scared he might charge me for a bad job on the hood? I don't know much about metal, but from first glance i thought my hood was VERY minor and easily fixable? can anyone tell me if this is an easy task for body shops?

do you guys have any links on ebay or whatever to a good eom honda hood?

appreciate everything guys! ****ing sister!
